Balance Your Hormones & Rebuild Your Adrenals Naturally
Hormone imbalance and adrenal fatigue are both more common than we think. Adrenal fatigue is very common and this is because we live in a fight or flight world these days. We are on the go and never really taking time to truly relax. Whether we are stressed about being late for work or running for our lives, our adrenal system doesn’t know the difference. It puts out the same amount of cortisol either way. When our cortisol is high it interferes with digestion, immune function, sleep and essential hormones. In turn it can be responsible for things such as: abdominal fat, high blood pressure, bone health, anxiety, immunity, mood, sex drive, inflammation and inability to concentrate. When they stay elevated which is common with our fight or flight lifestyle then the demand on the adrenals is too much and we get adrenal fatigue. We start to rely on caffeine to make it through the day which in turn exhausts our adrenals more, we can’t sleep because our sleep rhythm is so screwed up from being wired. We are tired, don’t feel good and running on fumes and in turn our whole endocrine system is disrupted and hormones fall out of balance. Here are ways to improve your adrenal function and overall hormonal balance and in turn may help prevent a wide variety of major health problems: 1. Eat three balanced meals a day with a couple snacks to keep blood sugar balanced. Keeping blood sugar balanced is key for the whole endocrine system and especially the adrenal function.
2. Food to support adrenals and a balanced hormonal system:
Just think wholefood diet – food in the most natural state.
·Ground chia seeds contain healthy dietary fiber and omega’s.
·Egg yolks are one of the best foods to help repair the adrenals. Make sure and get high quality, pastured yolks.
·Extra Virgin Coconut Oil – healthy fat that can help stabilize blood sugar levels
·Add Himalayan salt to your diet when you wake up – ½ tsp mixed in purified water. You can take more if your energy is low at another time of the day.
·Add Cultured Vegetables to your diet to get live active probiotics as well as getting a good probiotic in like PB assist to help your body in many aspects.
·Eat plenty of vegetables and vegetable juices (kelp, sprouts, green and black olives, peppers, kale, chard, celery, zucchini).
·Add nutrient-dense and unprocessed foods such as sprouted nuts and seeds to your diet.
·Seaweeds like nori, wakame, kombu and hijiki all amazing healing foods.
·Buy organic whenever possible, grass fed if eating beef, free range organic chicken, wild salmon (no farmed), pastured eggs.
·Stay away from: processed food, sugar, white flour products, products containing lots of ingredients, caffeine, soda, deep fried foods and fast food. 3. Get your elimination systems working: Elimination – At least once a day, ideally 3 times a day. Add lemon and lemon oil to water first thing every morning to get digestive system going and alkaline, lots of water- hydration is key, cleanse 2-4 times a year at least, colon irrigation ·Constipation oils – Digest Zen, Black Pepper, Fennel, Peppermint. •Nail Polish, body lotion and deodorant– most have chemicals from the phthalate family (DBP, DEHP). These are used to make products soft and malleable. Replace with melaleuca, purify for deodorant – use coconut oil for body lotion, immortelle for face. Find natural nail polish and health stores. •Toothpaste, shampoo, bath salts and body/shower gel– toss if label says sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS ) or sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES). These are added as agents and emulsifiers. Replace with On Guard Toothpaste or make own with baking soda and peppermint essential oil. •Conditioner, foundation, concealer, facial mask and skin cream – toss if the label lists parabens including methyl, propyl, butyl and ethyl. These are used as germicides and preservatives. Replace with coconut oils, essential oils, lemon for shiny hair, Immortelle or Frankincense oils for face.
•Soap, hairspray, eyeliner, talc and shaving cream – toss if they have chemicals from the anolamine family (DEA, TEA, MEA). These chemicals are used as emulsifiers, pH adjusters, preservatives and foaming agents.
Replace with natural alternatives and make own •Petroleum– toss if lists petrolatum. Used as a moisturizer.
Replace with coconut oil, non petroleum products – they make an actual non petroleum gel that you can get.
